Jade Nelson • Creative Projects

If you follow me on Instagram or Facebook, you’ve probably heard me mention Jade Nelson.  She’s a close friend of mine, and we’re always thinking of ways we can collaborate on projects.  I recently had the opportunity to revamp Jade’s website, layout her e-book, create graphics for both, and design her business card.  It was fun to work on all of the projects, and it helped us get to know each other better and our friendship to grow.

You see Jade is growing as a brand…  She’s an author, public speaker, epilepsy warrior, & Ketogenic diet advocate, but she’s also evolving.  Speaking her truth has allowed Jade to shine her light on those around her, and she has new opportunities arise the brighter and brighter it shines.

Jade’s website didn’t show how brightly her light shines, but it served its purpose until recently.  She was leveling up… Jade was publishing a book, speaking at Dell Children’s Hospital, KetoCon, and Low Carb USA, and I wanted to help her brand herself a bit more.  I want people understand exactly what Jade is about, why her story is powerful, and how her experiences have shaped her into the savvy, educated warrior she is today.

People think,”Just get it done.  At least it’s done.”  Those people don’t understand the importance of branding.  It can make or break your career – don’t believe me?  What do all those beautiful Instagram feeds you love so much all have in common?  B-R-A-N-D-I-N-G.  A little louder for the people in the back!  BRANDING! BRANDING! BRANDING!

So what is branding?  Well, I won’t give away all my secrets, but I’ll give you three easy tips that are important to your branding:

1. Be Consistent: Your audience wants to feel a connection.  Consistency builds trust.  Trust builds a connection.

2. Pick A Style: Pick a style that is true you, and stick with it.  Constantly changing your style is not… Consistent!

3. Color Palette: Think about how the colors you use make you feel.  Is that how you want your audience to feel?

Start there, and you’ll create a presence that people are attracted to and admire.

Jade wanted a clean & simple website and graphics package.  We started with her website look, transitioned into choosing colors that reflected her focus: health, diet & self-care, and moved on to combining the two to create a graphics package.  I don’t think a day went by that we didn’t laugh – the company made the work enjoyable.  The outcome is something we can both be proud of that reflects Jade’s intentions and speaks to her audience… and her truth.

Now that we’ve had a photo shoot, Jade’s due for another level up, but one day at a time… 😉
