Family Fun

Family Fun

We had a fun day out and about two weeks ago as a family…  We started the day by taking Sadie to the park and playing fetch.  (She loves playing ball more than anything in the world, so we try to take her to the park at least once a week.)  This particular day, she was more interested in having a picnic at the park, so she had breakfast while people watching.

After hanging out in the park for about an hour, soaking up the sun and watching Sadie run back and forth from shade to shade, we decided it was time to find a dog-friendly lunch spot.  We wanted to try a new place for lunch that could accommodate my keto needs and Brek’s vegetarian needs.  I stumbled upon Austin Terrier during my search, and we decided to check it out.  At first glance, you’d assume dogs are welcome everywhere, but they are only allowed outside (for obvious health code reasons.)  We found a small table on the wooden patio and hoped a few of the crowded tables would finish up soon – leaving us with a private patio.

My handsome lunch date

Brek ordered avocado toast and a vegetarian sandwich with a side salad.  I ordered a cheeseburger with brie, bacon, and a side of avocado on lettuce and an unsweetened tea.  Although I didn’t eat the Avocado Toast, it definitely was not impressive looking.  Brek said it was,”alright.”

Brek’s sandwich and salad looked much better than his appetizer!

My meal wasn’t as beautiful as Brek’s, but it as tasty!  I had not tried Brie on a burger before, and it was delicious – especially combined with the bacon & avocado.

Overall, it was a nice place for lunch…  The shaded patio was charming, but the servers could have acted a little less disgruntled.  Haha!  As a bonus, the nearby tables left before we received our food, so we did essentially have a private patio.  AWWW, YEAH!

Dogs galore!

After lunch, we headed home to grab more water for Sadie and cool off in the A/C for a bit.  We were back out before we knew it, making our way over to Yard Bar for their “Yappy Hour” hosted by Bark.  When you purchased an event ticket, you were allowed to pick out a toy from their new “New York” toy collection and you received a free beer.  (I gave my free beer to Brek and ending up having to drive us home.  Lol  He never lets go, so it was nice to see him relax a bit.)  Another sponsor included Grocery Pup, and they were handing out free dog food samples and rad bandanas.

We didn’t win the raffle, but we had fun.

Bottoms up, Brek!

Barks new toy collection was so cute, but we could only choose two toys (one per ticket), so we picked the smallest two we could find for Sadie.  We chose a take-out box with a velcro top and squeaky”dumplings” inside and a coffee/bagel combo.  The coffee squeaks, and the bagel crinkles – so cute!  Sadie loves them all, but she’s definitely had the most fun fetching the dumplings.

I think it’s safe to say, we all had a great day as a family.  😉
